Dr. Jafaar advocates for his patients on the highest level. He is compassionate and thorough. I've been a nurse for 16 years, and so far, he is the one I recommend the most often. Yes, the office staff feels like you are being watched on a hidden camera show, but he is a great doctor.

They tried to move me to another location to see my primary care doctor, behind my back. Then when that didn't work, they sent a recording lying about my insurance not covering the Castroville location, so I called my insurance, and they set them straight. I guess they have too many people there, so they are trying to move them.

I’ve been going to this doctor’s for years now and it seems to get worse and worse the customer service isn’t the greatest. The nurse who came out to take our vitals wasn’t the friendliest. They take for ever to see you. They see you 45 minute's past your appointment time. They even drag their feet on sending the medications to the pharmacy. I’m sorry but I’m not feeling well take my money check me out and send me on my way! I don’t have all the time in the world to sit in my car behind the DR office as if I have the plague.

I called check on a referral that was ordered 09 NOV, and the lady said the referral HAD NOT BEEN SENT yet. What?! Eleven days ago the order was created by my Dr. and still the order was never sent! Inexcusable on all levels. My referral sat in a pile on someone's incompetent desk. Mgmt needs to act swiftly to protect patient's health.

TODAY 3 NOV 2023

Checked in at 8:50 for a 0900 blood lab appointment. Was told my wait time was 8 minutes. At 09:47 I asked the main lady behind the glass, when I was going to have my blood drawn because I have waiting nearly one hour and she said "You will be called shortly" I said "Well I have waited nearly an hour and now my morning schedule is all messed up now." She firmly said " I am sorry there's nothing I can do." She looked angry as well.

At approximately 10:00 am a lady walked out into the waiting room and called my name. She asked 'where were you?" I said "I have been in the waiting room for an hour." She then told me that all blood lab patients have a different waiting area.

I was never informed of that in -fact, the same lady at the front counter told me to wait in the main waiting area.

I am so frustrated with this incompetency already !! Literally nobody talks to one another at this place. As a professional I am going to say that this Castroville staff is THE most unprofessional and incompetent I have ever experienced.

They lie to your face, they don't call you back, they take 20+ days to get a referral completed, they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE, they can't organize schedules at all.

This Castroville place is 100% the worst I have ever experienced in my 54 years !

Management needs to seriously address the concerns written in the reviews.

ONE MONTH AGO
Urgent care, saw Dr. a few days after. Can't walk, spinal issue that is severe due to a double spinal fusion. It is now going on THREE WEEKS and this place can't even get me a referral to an ortho Dr. after my Dr. ordered a referral.

Staff is currently on referral number 5 ! Have zero clue to what they are doing. They have zero quality assurance. They say they will call you - they don't. They say we'll ensure the forward Dr. accepts your insurance - they don't qualify but set the appointment up anyway.

It's literal the most absurd and amateur 'health care' operation I have experienced in my 50 plus years. So now I have to go to the ER or Urgent care yet again and again all DUE TO THEIR INCOMPETENCE. Abhorrent health care service.

Why is there only one person that can 'do' referrals? They tell you "she's out for the day and will get your referral done tomorrow. I called the next day - on hold for 12 minutes and then the phone hangs up. I called 7 more times for a total of about 90 minutes on hold! What an absolute management catastrophe. The sheer organizational dysfunction is astonishing!

I finally get someone to answer on the 8th call. She says "the person who does the referral is out today and will do it tomorrow." THAT IS THE SAME THING YOU TOLD ME YESTERDAY. How can I believe anything you all say? I can't. And again, why is is there only one person that can do referrals?
Whoever is in charge of logistics is absolutely horrible at their job. You are in the heath care sector not auto parts. People actually suffer because of your incompetence.

My Dr. is terrific - one of the smartest and best ever!

The staff appears to simply be there for a paycheck, they could care less about accuracy, quality assurance or compassion for someone's needs. It seems everyone who answers the phones points the finger and has a set of excuses to say every time, rather than create a functional and effective operation, they choose to BS the patient.

Texas is ranked #47 in the nation for customer service in health care. That's real bad. Now I know why. I will be sure to tell every single person I know about the despicable experiences I have had at Medcare Associates of Castroville - TX. Get your act together.

Have been going to Dr Jaafar for the last 30+ years and I can say that within those 30+ years he has never treated me as he has the last few months of 2023. I need a lift chair and he refuses to write an order for one. I'll be writing up an appeal against him for this matter.

Believe what you read in the reviews because every single word is the truth! I'm done with this damn doctor.

I am very disappointed with the staff in the office. The Doctor was great but the follow was horrible. She had me do an ultra sound stat so i went that night. She stated she will be in on saturday am and will follow up i called left a message for her. Called back office was closed. tried back Monday. Staff said she was off but will have someone contact me. Nothing. Now on Tuesday i called 3 times before asking to speak with some or place me on hold. I am still holding. I am sure it isnt the doc but more of the staff not communicating and following up with their patients. disappointed

The doctors and PAs are great, as are the office manager and the girls who handle the phone calls. Some of the front desk and scheduling clerks leave much to be desired when it comes to attitude (everything is an imposition to them and they let you know it with tone and expressions). Overall, I recommend this clinic when it comes to the important stuff: quality medical care.

If I could give no stars, I would. Their employees are super unprofessional. The referral staff NEVER calls or lets you know or follows up. They gave me a referral to a diabetes DR when my daughter was supposed to be seen by a dermatologist. How about you find employees that care about their job and do it correctly. I will be switching my child to a different DR.
